Calgary Adventures.

We finally made the trip down to Calgary to see J's sister and her partner. J had some meetings there so we thought it would be fun to make a long weekend out of it and catch up with the family. Caitlin and Glenn have bought themselves a beautiful new house in Southwest Calgary and we had really fun weekend exploring their new hometown (or Glenn's old one rather). We always make the most of being out and about when we are somewhere new (or old) and Calgary had some wonderful things to do with kids. On the trip down (approx. 700km) we decided to take the route through the National Park. This takes you through Jasper, Columbia Icefields, Lake Louise, Banff and on to Calgary. The weather was pretty special for the drive and we stopped at the Athabasca Falls.

Love this shot of Jonno pulling Bud's shirt to keep him still for a picture. Makes me laugh.

Columbia Ice-fields are always spectacular.

While J worked Friday, I took myself and the kids off to IKEA to pick up a few little things. With the help of Google Maps I seemed to navigate my way around the city with ease. Saturday saw us visit the "Corn Maze" I had read about this little attraction for the kiddos and it seemed like it would be fun. It was. Lots to see and do and the admission was very reasonable.

The jumping pillows were especially fun.

Then we played some foam ball skirmish. A fun kid (pain free) version of skirmish. We of course ran around like turkeys and made complete a complete embarrassment of ourselves. We're those parents.

Check this happy little dude out. He warms the cockles, I tell ya.

Spotted a prairie dog. Love seeing all these animals in the flesh, that as an Australian, you only read about in books.

Bud and I loved the baby bunnies. There may be a bunny joining the McCarthy house sometime soon.

Good fun on the hill slide too.

So after all that we failed to actually do the corn maze. Everyone was tired and hungry for a Sushi Train lunch. Something that Australia does SO much better, just to note.

Sunday was spent at Calgary Olympic Park (the site where the Winter Olympics in Calgary were hosted) luging. I only have a few iPhone pics of this.

So just imagine us luging. *use imagination here*. We had a lovely weekend visiting Caitlin and Glenn's beautiful new home, it won't be long before we're back (especially now we're getting a fur-niece Kingsley-Sue who will join our family sometime in October).
